IEO is here to assist international students with various scholarship programs. There are hundreds of scholarships available for international students from a wide variety of sources such as the Government of Ireland, the Irish higher education institutions, and other organisations. These are awarded solely at the discretion of the individual organisations that set down their own criteria for eligibility.

Scholarships are available for Non-EU students giving up to a 15% discount off the quoted fee. If you are a Non-EU student thinking of applying to study in ATU then you may qualify for a scholarship in recognition of your English language attainment, your country of origin, or both.

IRCHSS funds cutting-edge research in the humanities, social sciences, business and law with the objective of creating new knowledge and expertise beneficial to Ireland’s economic, social and cultural development. Through its membership of the European Science Foundation, the Research Council is committed to integrating Irish research in European and international networks of expertise.

A generous 4-year scholarship is available for an outstanding PhD candidate in the field of Law, within the School of Law and Government at Dublin City University. The scholarship will include a fee waiver and a tax-free stipend of €12,000 per annum for a full-time PhD student.

National College of Ireland (NCI) offers a variety of scholarships and bursaries for international students, aimed at promoting excellence and diversity. These scholarships are available for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with automatic assessment based on academic performance.

Undergraduate students are eligible for the Undergraduate Academic Scholarship, worth €2,000, and the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Scholarship, providing €4,000 per year. There is also a Sports Scholarship available for high-performing athletes, offering €2,000 and the possibility to combine it with other NCI scholarships.

For postgraduate students, scholarships include the Academic Merit Scholarship, which ranges from €2,000 to €5,000, depending on the intake. Specific scholarships are also offered for the MSc in Entrepreneurship and MSc in Artificial Intelligence for Business, with amounts up to €7,000 from January 2025 onwards. Additionally, the Higher Diploma in Science in Computing offers a scholarship of €4,000.

The University of Galway offers a wide range of merit-based scholarships for international students for the academic year 2024/2025. These scholarships are designed to attract high-caliber students from outside the EU and are automatically assessed based on academic performance. Maynooth University offers €2,000 scholarships to full-time Taught Masters students, open to both EU and non-EU applicants. These scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, requiring a minimum of a 2.1 Honours (or equivalent) in an undergraduate degree. The scholarship does not cover tuition fees for repeat years, and applicants must apply through PAC alongside their master’s programme application.

University College Dublin (UCD) in Ireland is one of the world’s top universities and is the most popular university for international students in Ireland. Each year, UCD offers a number of Global Excellence Scholarship to international students (on non-EU fees) who are starting a course at UCD in September.

To apply for the Global Excellence Scholarship, students must first have received an offer (or conditional offer) to study in an eligible UCD course.

Dublin Business School offers partial scholarships of €500 to €1,000 for international students applying to Level 8 and Level 9 programmes. To qualify, successful candidates must pay an acceptance fee within 30 days of receiving a Confirmed Offer. The scholarships provide:

  • €500 off for Level 6, 7, and 8 programmes.
  • €1,000 off for Level 9 programmes.

Note that these discounts do not apply to ACCA, Pre-Masters, Pre-Undergraduate programmes, or the Certificate in Business & English Language. The remaining balance of fees must be paid before the course starts.
